Following the inaugural award presented to Dr Carl June in 2017, we were delighted to announce the 2018 Translational Pioneer award during the Phacilitate Cell and Gene Therapy Leaders Forum in Miami, USA. The award recognizes the exceptional contribution made by an individual scientist to the translation of cell and gene therapies into the clinic.

We received over 100 nominations for the award and with the help of our esteemed judging panel - Dr Maria Grazia Roncarolo, Dr Olivier Danos and Dr Joanne Kurtzberg we selected this year's deserved winner: Stefan Miltenyi.

Stefan is known for his innovations in cell selection technology that have enabled the study of the biology of distinct cell lineages and the development of multiple critical cell therapies in the clinic for the past 2 decades.  His innovations have led to advances in hematopoietic cell transplantation, immunotherapies, and regenerative medicine and are sure to fuel the development of novel cell, gene and regenerative therapies in the future.
