Commissioning Editor

Cell and Gene Therapy Insights provides a truly multidisciplinary journal for debate and discussion by all stakeholders committed to progressing this exciting field and converting innovative research into new therapies. We are looking for a talented individual to join our editorial team as a Commissioning Editor. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced editor. As Commissioning Editor, you will be involved in developing and managing the editorial content for the publication, acting as the primary contact for authors across the publication process. Working directly with the CEO, you will have the opportunity to generate fresh ideas and liaise with leading experts in the field of cell and gene therapy. This role offers flexible working opportunities including part-time and from-home working which can be tailored to the suitable candidate.

Key responsibilities include:

Content Development: Researching the latest developments in the field and converting this into ideas for journal content including reviews, interviews and a host of multimedia formats such as podcasts and videos.

Commissioning content from international leading experts: contacting potential authors, liaising in a professional manner and securing a diverse range of high-quality articles for each issue of the journal.

Author Liaison: communicating directly with authors throughout the publication process to ensure article deadlines are met, including the provision of feedback following independent peer review.

Requirements: Experience in an Editorial role within STM publishing is essential. A degree or equivalent in a medical or life-sciences discipline is essential. Strong communication skills Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Editorial Assistant

We are looking for a talented individual to join our editorial team as Assistant Editor. This is an exciting opportunity for a science graduate wanting to build a career in publishing. Working within a dynamic start-up, the successful applicant will gain unique experiences across a range of functions supporting the growth and development of BioInsights' portfolio. Core responsibilities include management of peer review, news writing, content generation, proof-reading and editing, as well as involvement in marketing and social media campaigns. This role offers flexible working opportunities including part-time and from-home working which can be tailored to the suitable candidate.

Core Responsiblities:

Writing & Editing: Writing daily news stories published on the BioInsights website and promoted via social media. Involvement in creating the monthly Cell and Gene Therapy Commercial Insight

Content Development: Research latest developments in cell and gene therapy to familiarise yourself with hot topics, key institutions and author prospects. Identify potential topics and associated authors for added-value content to be published in CGTI including Editorials, Conference Insights and Interviews.

Peer Review Management: Securing suitable independent peer reviewers for each article submitted to the journal, responding to queries and advising the commissioning editor on the peer-review outcome.

Marketing & Social Media: Involvement in the implementation of BioInsights’ marketing strategy including management of social media activity and delivering email marketing campaigns.

Previous editorial experience is beneficial but not essential – full training on all aspects of the role will be provided to the successful candidate. 

Requirements: A degree or equivalent in a biomedical or life-sciences discipline is essential. Strong communication skills – written and spoken Excellent organisational and time management skills. Proactive and keen to learn.
