Update on the regulatory environment for ATMPs in Israel

Ofra Axelrod

Ofra Axelrod is the Director of the Institute for Standardization and Control of Pharmaceuticals, Deputy Director of the Center for Pharmaceuticals and Enforcement divisions, Israeli MOH. Dr Axelrod holds a PhD in Immunology from the Weizmann Institute of Science and has been involved in immunological research in various research institutes. In 1997, she established the Unit for Quality assessment of Biological products at the Institute for Standardization and Control of Pharmaceuticals and has headed the unit until 2013. As a participating member on a number of MOH committees dealing with biological products, Dr Axelrod is currently active in the establishment of regulatory requirements and policies concerning biological products, including those for cell- and tissue-based therapies.
